Matt earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Brigham Young University – Idaho in Business Management with an emphasis in Marketing. He then continued his education by earning a Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho College of Law. While attending law school, Matt was able to practice law under a limited license in both Idaho and Washington, working on dozens of cases. During this time, Matt sat first chair on a criminal jury trial and was successful in defending his client against both charges before even completing law school.

Matt focuses his practice strictly on criminal defense law as he is passionate about helping the accused navigate the justice system and ensuring that individuals’ constitutional rights are protected. While Matt is fluent in Portuguese, he constantly strives to improve his Spanish to better aid his clients.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys working meticulously on home theater equipment, hiking, traveling, and reading.

Her trips with her dad, as well as many family trips to Utah’s National Parks and forests, imbued her with a deep love for Southern and Southeastern Utah. She still enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, boating, and biking in the area.

Rebekah attended Brigham Young University on a full scholarship, and double-majored in Economics and English. In the midst of earning her bachelor’s degrees, she spent a summer study abroad in Vienna, Austria and later served a Spanish-speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala. Rebekah retains her fluency in Spanish.

She then attended law school at Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School where she served as Assistant Editor for the Journal of Public Law in which her work was also published. She graduated from BYU Law School cum laude.

Rebekah previously worked at the Utah County Public Defender Association where she helped hundreds of defendants successfully navigate the criminal justice system.  She now enjoys working on the criminal practice team at Dexter & Dexter Attorneys at Law, PC and finds this meaningful work both engaging and rewarding.

Rebekah has served in various volunteer positions, including in her local scouting and PTA chapters. She lives in Utah County and loves taking advantage of its many outdoor recreational opportunities with her family.

I was born in Provo, Utah, and spent portions of my childhood in Alaska, New Zealand, and Arizona. After high school, I served a two-year, Spanish-speaking mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile and later worked as a paid intern in the United States Senate in Washington, DC.

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1992 and earned my Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University School of Law. While in law school, I served as class president and student body vice president and received a scholarship from the International Law Society to study abroad at the Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies in Israel.

After law school, I returned home to Utah to pursue my legal career and co-founded DexterLaw in 1995.

My Practice

For more than 30 years, I have had the privilege of helping individuals, families, and businesses solve difficult problems and protect the things that matter most to them. My practice focuses primarily on personal injury, business law, real estate law, and criminal defense.

Although these areas of law can be very different, my approach is much the same: understand the client and the problem, develop a practical strategy, and advocate vigorously for the best possible result.

Personal Injury

An unexpected accident can change a person’s life in an instant. I find great satisfaction in helping shoulder the burdens of people who have been seriously injured through no fault of their own.

My approach to personal injury law is shaped by nearly five years representing State Farm Insurance Companies. During that time, I handled thousands of claims, defended State Farm and its policyholders in litigation, and investigated suspected insurance fraud as a member of its Special Investigative Unit.

That experience gave me valuable insight into how insurance companies investigate, evaluate, defend, and settle claims—knowledge I now use to advocate for injured clients and their families. I have extensive experience with serious automobile accidents, traumatic brain injuries, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, premises liability, and aviation-related claims.

Business & Real Estate

As an entrepreneur and business owner myself, I understand the opportunities, challenges, and risks involved in running a successful business. I have represented clients ranging from closely held family businesses to corporations with hundreds of employees, providing practical legal counsel focused not only on the law, but also on achieving the client’s broader business objectives.

I also have extensive experience in real estate law. In addition to practicing as a real estate attorney, I have been licensed through the Utah Division of Real Estate, represented real estate professionals, advised buyers and sellers, and participated in the planning and development of commercial and residential projects. I have also represented hundreds of landlords and tenants in protecting their property rights.

Criminal Defense

My interest in criminal defense began during law school, when I worked for a local city prosecutor and handled dozens of criminal trials under her supervision. Seeing the criminal justice system from the prosecution side gave me valuable insight into how cases are investigated, charged, and tried.

I believe an arrest or criminal charge does not define who a person is, and I work diligently to wield my experience to protect the constitutional rights of those accused of crimes and to minimize the impact a criminal case can have on a client’s future.

Court Admissions

I was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in Washington DC in 2004. Since 1995, I have been admitted to practice before the Federal District Court District of Utah and all Utah courts including the Utah Supreme Court.

Community & Family

I have been admitted to practice before all Utah state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Utah, and, since 2004, the United States Supreme Court in Washington, DC.

Utah Valley is a wonderful place to practice law, raise a family, and call home. In an attempt to give back, I have served many valuable community organizations over the years, including the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, BYU Cougar Club, American Red Cross, Hale Center Theater, LDS Family Services, and the Boy Scouts of America. I have been honored to receive several awards for community service, including Scouting’s Silver Beaver Award and the Corporate Alliance/TribeHouse CARMA Award.

My wife, Jennifer, and I live in Lindon and are the parents of four children. Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, swimming, traveling, and following BYU sports—especially Cougar football.

Reed initially focused his practice on real estate issues (both litigation and transactional), building upon his prior work experience at a local real estate title company. Over the next few years, Reed was asked to assist other attorneys and law firms with complex litigation, including real estate fraud, racketeering, product liability, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases in state and federal courts.

In 1991, Reed returned to his Utah County roots, joining a Utah County firm to work business transactional matters while continuing his collaborations with other attorneys and firms on complex litigation matters. In 2015, Reed began working with DexterLaw in an of counsel role.

Reed maintains a business transaction and litigation practice which includes business formation, contracts, contract disputes, insurance disputes, wrongful death, personal injury, product liability, business litigation, municipal law, whistleblower claims, Federal Qui Tam (False Claims Act) actions, employment disputes, collections, and other litigation and business formation and transaction matters.

Recognizing the critical and cost-effective need to engage in settlement options as an alternative to litigation, Reed regularly advocates for clients in alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and arbitration.

When not engaged in his legal writing, Reed enjoys reading, novel writing, and going for long walks with his wife Michelle. He especially enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Having discovered a passion and aptitude for language, he taught an Italian class as an undergraduate at BYU. While attending law school, he served as a legal writing assistant and completed a paid internship at Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, representing clients with family law and property matters.

Bryan co-founded DexterLaw after graduating and being admitted to the Utah State Bar in 1995.  He has extensive legal experience; his varied practice includes estate planning, real property and civil matters, as well as bankruptcy.

Bryan is committed to and values community service, and has served as Chairman of the Board of Kids on the Move, a federally funded nonprofit serving challenged children and their families.

He is a member of the Utah and Colorado State Bars (inactive in CO) and is admitted to the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Utah. As a skilled problem solver, he enjoys the inherent rewards that accompany the achievement of superior results. Bryan cultivates and cherishes his relationship with his clients, and takes seriously the trust and confidence they place in him.

Bryan lives in Utah Valley with his wife and six children. His interests include traveling, firearms and exploring, and his preternatural fervor for mountain biking.
